Some Recent Finds: Wax Seal, Old Silver, Buttons & More!
Tomorrow marks the 10 year anniversary of the purchase of my first metal detector. It took me almost exactly 10 years to dig my "find of a lifetime". I had some time over the weekend to make a chronology of the last decade, so check out the short video.
I am still digging some nice goodies, including the wax seal I dug last weekend while out with Elad. It was more than 12 inches deep and the only indication anything was beneath the coil was a slight rise in the threshold of my V3i. On a deep target, that is a good enough reason for me to dig. I also dug 5 buttons that day, all civilian with common backmarks and the piece of a colonial buckle. (If any of you have the other half, let me know!) The shiny tombac button was found at another site on a previous hunt. The site was littered with trash and is a well known detecting spot. What is odd is that this was on the surface. I think some noob found the button and tossed it aside as trash!
The Barber Dime and the buttons pictured with it all came from the field I dug the Flowing Hair Half Dime earlier this month.
I am looking forward to sharing my finds with you all over the next decade!
