Some of today's beach finds. What is the cylinder?

Here's some of the stuff I found today at the beach. I haven't figured out what the cylinder on the left is yet. It's 3 1/4 inches long and 3/4 in diameter. It's completely hollow inside and there's a 1/8 inch hole at the bottom. The end you cannot see is completely open.
Also found today about 25 yards from this find was a 50 Caliber shell from the old air force base planes that used this area as a practice target area before the hotels were built.
And, yes, that is a pot pipe in the photo. (Not mine) ;D.
Any ideas?

O.K., I asked the professional (my wife) what the cylinder might be. She was quick to tell me "IT'S JUNK".
So, question answered. LOL.
I forgot, I also found a really nice "Shakespear" fishing real. It's still in the back of the truck.

X I hope to find something cool on the beach this week
too. I look forward to getting out of the mountains for a few days.
Was the 50 Cal shell in good shape.

Re: Some of today's beach finds. What is the cylinder?

The shell will look awesome when he cleans it up.
Here's the deal. Construction crews are working one of the beaches right now, building a new hotel or something. They have removed a bunch of the sand from the surface a few feet deep in about a 1 acre area. I didn't get a chance to hunt it a lot today, but am working on it the rest of the week. Hopefully gonna get some nice stuff.
Look forward to hunting with ya.

Re: Some of today's beach finds. What is the cylinder?

if found with the pipe ,( maybe stashed together) the cylinder could also? be used as a smoking device. the joint, goes in the small end (is it burnt ~?) the other end covers your mouth . any other ,small drilled hole on the side that would be used to '' carburate'' while inhaling ~? a-hem ,,,,,, of course , only if you inhale ~! lo

p.s. oh yeah ,,,,, first post ,,,,,been lurking for a month or so, neat site ,,,,, hi to all~! gwilson

brobogus, Welcome to the site.
The, pipe, was found about 1/2 mile away from the cylinder. However, the cylinder was found about 15 feet away from the 50 Cal. round that my partner found.

Re: Some of today's beach finds. What is the cylinder?

maybe if the end of its threaded it could be part of a silencer from a .22 or .25!
by the size of the hole that i can judge on the picture curios maybe a coupl of
snaps of the ends it aluminum?is it hollow ?got a shell or 2 laying around maybe poke it in
the end just for fun maybe a zip gun?!be looking out for a reply!maybe a handle off an elavation
traversing handle from the .50 gun maybe anti aircraft/boat/sub emplacment during ww2!DEKALB33 ;D

Is that item in the center a roach clip?(spelling?). I am not an expert. Perhaps Brobogus is right about a drug connection?

Re: Some of today's beach finds. What is the cylinder?

Yes, it's a fishing line sinker. Getting a pretty good collection of them. Next to it is the ring (which the professional (wife again) was quick to snap "it's not a child's ring, it's a toe ring". Whatever, it's a dang ring! :P

I thought silencer to LOL, but how about a roller, used on machines to roll the sand, used for maintenance.
