It's been a month or so since I posted but not because I haven't been doing some hunting. These are some of the things I've found since my last post in May. Someone usually asks where? - It's the same site Steve, Russ and our friend digger hunt. This the only site I hunt and all finds can be attributed to the Mandan culture. Thanks for looking.

Thanks all for looking and comments. I know there are many who enjoy seeing Mandan stuff and I really like finding it.

Yes SOHIO, what larson1951 said - it's a blade. We see many like this that are broken, sometimes we'll find a tip, base or the middle without either end, and once in a while a complete one. They made these out of a variety of material but we mainly see them made of flint or chert.

i know nothing about mandan culture, and didn't really look at the knives set in bone handles picture earlier i just read and assumed it was set in bone handle like knives today, didn't notice they were set a little different kinda like an old straight razor. From what ive seen of mandan culture (and i must admit sometimes i only look at pictures) from yours and others from your area, it reminds me of alaskan artifacts. Is there some connection there somehow?

Thanks, I've not heard or read of an alaskan connection. Mandan legend is they came from under ground at the mouth of the Heart River. Some archeologists and historians say they migrated from the east - possibly the Ohio Valley. I will say though, that the craftsmanship shown on the artifacts found, especially the bone tools, at this site is unequaled.
