Some of my button finds (updated with more Jun 18th)

Re: Some of my button finds

thanks guys :)

I don't think I would give myself that title however hah although I would be glad to be the button king! haha

I am sure there are many folks here and on other sites who have a much more impressive list of button finds than myself! I love finding them though, and am always looking to expand my collection. I am putting together some nice displays now...and am in the process of researching a few sites that should turn up some nice buttons! :)

Re: Some of my button finds (updated with more April 3rd)

well here is a group of 1812 buttons I found on Saturday in one hunt. Not too shabby.
Unfortunately no regimental numbered buttons, or officers...but I'll take em'!

All are British...Royal Reg't of Artillery.

Including one with a very unique backmark! It is "I. McGowan" like all of these are...BUT...the "N" is backwards!?!?! Anyone ever seen or heard of this?? I have seen hundreds of these, and nothing like this one.

I'D take them over a coin anyday....Awesome collection Wess!!Are they mostly field find's or what?

Re: Some of my button finds (updated with more Sept. 17)

Wes...AWESOME button finds!!! I go mainly for the old coins but if it isn;t a coin I find I am THRILLED to see it be an old button. I have some pre-civil war and civil war era and WWII era buttons, but none from the Rev. War era....VERY nice finds and collection you have there!!!! WTG!!!

Thanks very much! Most are field finds...and many from the woods. I love hacking through the woods in those places people wouldn't even consider walking...nevermind swing a detector LOL The way I see it...if you get into the places you don't want to go...chances are nobody else did either.

Thanks very much! Keep at it...your area is certainly old enough for the Rev. war buttons to appear! Dig some up so I can drool over them :)
