Some more finds from the old c.1900 garbage dump and surrounding debris field by the RR. Best finds is the frosty glass rose stopper, probably from a perfume bottle, the old railroad button from c.1908-1910, and small 1922 date nail in great shape for its type. Also found some other date nails from a corral I checked out, a couple old marbles, a little girl's tea pot lid, and mother of pearl buttons. And im not sure, but I think that one thing above the train button is some kind of seashell fossil, or at least part of it.

And is that a 1991 pistol casing? Just wanted to make sure before I set it aside.

A whole bunch of cool finds.
I like the date nails.
I remember reading that they started using them to keep track of maintenance and replacement schedules. Congratulations on a nice hunt.

Forgot, I also found this. Anyone know what it is?

Yes, I just looked it up again, and these buttons you see with the engines on them came off of overalls and hats etc... that the Railroad guys used to wear. There are some other really cool ones too, if you search "Railroad Buttons" on google or something, you'll see what I mean.

Wow amazing keep up the great finds!!!!!!

Found this too: An old pen nib holder from The Parker Pen Company in Janesville, Wisconsin. I guess this company started out in 1888 and is still in business today. This thing is probably early 1900s.

Very nice finds...love the nails! :occasion14:

Those train buttons must have been very popular. I've dug several down here in SW Georgia.
