Got back out yesterday to a gold mine where I've found a few things in the past. The wind was howling, but the temps were okay.
This place is very well known and gets detected often, as do most of the larger old mines in this area. I still managed to find a few good targets to dig.

Pulled an 1892-s dime, 1901 IHP and the first whole bottle I've found in this area.
The rest was the usual type items from gold camps like harmonica reed plates, eating utensils, clothing hardware, cartridges, etc.
The cartridges are:
45-60
40-65
.32 W. Special
.45 Colt
.30 W.C.F.
and .44 S&W

The dime was half exposed right on the surface just peeking out from this little bush.

Great stuff oldmxrat. That sure looks like unforgiving country to detect in. Did you encounter any snakes or other creepy-crawlers on your outing? I like the look of that bottle. Seems to have an interesting design. Any idea of the age?

Great finds. Congratulations!

Great looking coins and relics - the Indian and the Barber are in great condition !

Funny thing ...
I just got home from a short hunt - the only thing I found was one Indian Cent - a 1901 just like yours.

Congratulations on the silver, IHP, and the old bottle.
"initials stand for Joseph. S. Pedersen, and the bottle contained malt extract."

Thanks! Yeah, pretty rough place, steep and rocky. I see lots of lizards but no snakes yet this year. I wear snake-bite chaps when I'm out, but mostly just because of the cactus.

Great finds! That's a semi-key date Barber in fantastic condition. Congrats! I found that same bottle a few years ago. It's a

Late 1800's JSP (Joseph S. Pedersen)

Thanks for the I.D., very cool!

Thanks Jim!
What in the world is malt extract used for?

Great finds! Looks like they must of had a harmonica band going there, and one of them lost a semi-key day dime. Worth a few hundred dollars these days. :icon_thumright:

I like the bottle

Nice finds! I've got a couple of those President suspender buckles. Does your say Pat August 23 92 on the back?
Thanks!
Yes it does. I find those fairly frequently.
