Found this silver spoon in the cape fear river about a month ago. It still had some incrustation on it covering the handle. I was going to start making some rings out of it and when the stuff broke off there were some letters on it. It appears to be N&E which seems to be more commercial than personal. Could this be from a passenger shipping line or something like that and maby worth something. I'd like to know before I destroy it. Can not read the writing on the back, Its to small.

Nice find!

Do you have a loupe or magn. glass to make out the rest of the wording?

I would have to agree with QualityCoins, it does look like an S&W. Looking at the picture, I really dont think it is solid silver, more of a silverplate.

I'm sure its solid because before I started cutting and pounding on it I cut a little spot about 1/32" deep and it is not plated and its very heavy. Might not be silver but it aint plated. Thanks for the info.
