Flightseven has discovered this medal to be Saint Barbara, patron Saint of Artillerymen, miners, and firefighters. She has a chalice in hand with most likely the heart of Jesus. Often portrayed with a sword in the other hand. (not a duck lol).

I dont think its that old. Maybe 50's. Possibly dropped by a construction worker in the ditch. Have you tested the metal yet?

you know, after looking at it again and yall talking about swords, it kinda does look like a sword hilt resting vertically under her right hand. its pretty worn, but thats what it looks like to me.

I would think it's Mary and the red thin symbolizing the sacred heart

Hello - I have a medallion just like this one. I'm very curious about it and wondering if you found out the origin? Is it st. barbara?IMG_7586.JPG

Very beautiful piece. It looks quite old. I wish that it was possible to find out its origins and time period it was made in. I also notice that the featured saint has markings on the area of her neck. Any ideas of what those could be?
