Detector(s) used
Minelab Exp. SE
I always love these guys . Always talkin real big about how they find MILLIONS of dollars worth of stuff and how they've used this? and that , BUT in the end they have no idea what the hell they are talking about . Just don't ever tell them that because they are a "professional" treasure hunter . Yesterday good ole loud mouth went off about how crappy the infinium Ls is from garrett . Told me how all the "salvage" guys hate them and how minelab stomped it into the ground and what a piece of junk it is . Then he started in about how much better fisher is than that one and how he's "Officially sponsored by fisher" and how much better his 1280-x is than the infinium? . Now mind you its very deep by now . He's told so many lies he should get a medal for it .

Now right about now a normal liar would stop . He'd know hes already told some whoppers and if he tells anymore he risks his already shaky cred . Do you think this stopped mr shnook ? NOPE ! Well apparently he sees detector pro selling their headhunter PI on ebay for $ 99 because they are trying to get into the market . Apparently the MSRP is just for show and they really sell for $ 99 . Also All the detectors I sell from garrett , whites , and detector pro are crap except for the Garrett sea hunter . He says the sea hunter is like 10 times better than the infinium .

Now the now SUPERHUMAN LIAR sees I also sell tesoro . Well apparently he LOVES tesoro and says the only thing hes had that is better than all his other "PRO" equipment was his BOUNTY HUNTER . Yes I said BH . He says the guys that makes tesoro used to make BH and thats why he likes them . Now here's the catch he starts telling me he can get the Tesoro Tiger Shark for WAY less than what dealers are even supposed to sell them for (I'm like wtf) .

So I told him to bring me in some print form an authorized dealer sellin at those prices (unless he types it NOT GONNA HAPPEN) . Lastly he made sure to tell me that even though he owns part of a couple salvage companies , stock in the? atocha , and a metric ton of treasure he can't afford to have two detectors at once and he'll need to get rid of his 1280-x first to afford it . Apparently he had to sell his bounty hunter he had previously to buy the 1280-x .

OH and lastly the 1280 x is apparently the best water detector ever made except fro it being on par with BH and Mine Lab since everything else is crap .

I've known some people that could spin BS in my time BUT this liar takes the cake .

He told some more lies that involve police bribary and the like but I? get tired just thinking about them .? ::)

Now thats funny , you gotta love it. what a MORON.Thanx for the great story it was great reading.

My hats off to dealers who actually maintain a store and do this for a living.

I was talking to the owner of one store one time and he showed me volumes of mail from various treasure hunting clubs. Seems like all of these clubs including out of state clubs wanted him to help sponsor their organizations. He told me that once you are kind enough to help sponsor a local club a lot of members now expect a "discount".

He told me it was commonplace for folks to try out his detectors and then buy their choice from a mail order discounter. To make things worst these same people would bring their detectors(brought thru mail order) in and expect him to show them how to operate it or to deal with problems they were having.

No wonder the number of ex-MD dealers is incredible

Thats pretty much status quo . We discount all our detectors 15% off msrp (have to to get any business ) . These huge dealers sell the stuff so cheaply that it really eats into the profit . The margins are VERY thin . Its unfortunate that more manufacturers aren't proactive enough to adjust prices accordingly and set limits to the discounts certain online places give . Also yes the inflow of people who are just kicking the tires is tremendous . They all look the detectors up and down and will buy online if they can save a DOLLAR (literally) . These same people will come back to my shop and cry that they don't know how to work their new toy ,or the assembly didn't turn out right . Also guess who they want to handle the service for their mail order purchase .

I've met 3 different guys who sounded similar to that. I just stand there and smile, and imagine how much stuff they have walked past or over, and missed in their life.
It is a real pleasure to actually meet a bona fide treasure hunter. You'll know because they ask what they can do for you..Not what kind of a deal can you give me.

ROFL Great Post GarretDealer. If I hadn't bought the Minelab The Infinium was my second choice. Detector Pro is a good machine too and I did consider it. The only reason I own a bounty hunter is because it came free with the Minelab . I could of gotten the ace 150 but decided the Bounty hunter had more options and I still don't know what the hell I'm doing with either but I'm having Fun. Its to bad you cant record some of these A$$ H@les. The Sound bites would be priceless. LOL HH

LOL!

The Infinium LS is an excellent machine (finally got to see one in action a few weeks back) but know some guys on another forum that use them also, and they are finding stuff at depths I wish I could get with my VLF machines (also, they're very sensitive to tiny objects)...

I'm contemplating buying one to add to my arsonal,

I had a surf master PI a few yrs back but, it didn't suit my needs, and was a pain in the @SS because of no disc. (even though it's claimed to have some) = "Joke"!!

I was digging beer can tops and crap at 3ft deep!!

Should've seen the look on peoples faces on the beach when I had 3 ft deep/3ft wide holes dug in the sand!! lol

Haaaa No matter what 'specialty' business your in, there is always a 'Ahole' in the woodpile someplace..
Back in the early 70's I had a dive shop in Toronto.. I had one guy tell me all the problems he had trying to fix his dock, 15 feet underwater breathing through a gardenhose.hahahahahahahah Obviously a graduate of the
South Hampton Institute of Technology (good ole S.H.I.T.) where no doubt he studied Fizzicks.. Yup theres always one thats bound to walk into in every store, owning all the very best equipment, but it was stolen/lost/sold it/fell down a rabbit hole/etc.. They make the day interesting, if not absurd..hahaha..

I know that type of lier. We had a guy in our club a while back that would find a gold coin every time he went out. Of course he brought it with him and would plant it. He also would write the most outlandish articles and get them published in W & E. And lately I have seen articles in Lost treasure. The guy has more lies than George Bush.

The thing I loved the most when i owned my store was that I didn't take any BS like that from NOBODY!! Owning your own biz affords you that choice. I'd a told him to constrict his obese oral cavity, extracate his craniumn from his anal corridor, masticate fesces and get the f^%$ outta my store!!! Saved time for the real customers and NEVER had repeat visits from ignoranus blowhards.Tons a au 2 u 2-John

My Tolerance to idiots is not what it use to be. I would have started asking questions about everything he said and why.

"Yesterday good ole loud mouth went off about how crappy the infinium Ls is from garrett."

lol, At this point I would have said " Hmm, hate to here that, how long did you have the Infinium? Oh, you never owned one. So you bought a Minelab right? Oh, You never owned a Minelab either. Hmmm. I guess you using someone elses detectors. What was so Crappy about the Infinium. Please show me, I don't want to sell them if they are bad?
