Had a nice day here on the front range of Colorado yesterday, so I went out to have a look at a place I've found some limited artifacts. I did find this little point and I wonder if it's a projectile or more of a drill? What I found yesterday is in the 1st picture. In the 2nd picture is one I found along the Arkansas River North of Buena Vista, Colo back in the 1980s. They just seem to small to be mounted to an arrow shaft to me, so maybe they're a drill bit or something like that? I think there was a dude spying on me off in the distance in that 3rd picture.

dart points vs bow and arrow points you get small for flight and big when thrown like a dart I listen to a lecture about weight if projectiles which made sense I could be wrong but.........

Trout Creek chert starts about 6 miles east of Buena Vista on US 285 and goes to about 25 miles north west of the royal gorge. The most common color is brown with black dots but the red is the next common color. I think the other lithic may be a Kansas chert type. I can rule out Elizabeth chert for sure.
I never knew the source of what I call tan jasper was that close to the region I looked in the upper Arkansas valley. Found this little perforator on the west side of Trout Creek pass.

So a point with a strong probability as a McKean projectile, found with in the middle high plains of the western U.S. where there are known to be found. Tagged as [SOLVED]
