I have a small creek that is pretty fast moving but the water comes from a swamp. Its got 2ft waterfalls. And its bottom is hard clay but there is some sandy areas. I have panned there twice with about 8 pans per time. I been finding alot of mica flickering in my pan and there are rusty parts on rocks and on bank. Would there be gold here. Its been there forever some of the banks are 3ft or more above the water. Water is about 6-8 inches and a lil lower in some areas. Thanks for any input

Best way to find out is to keep doing just what you are...sampling
and trying different spots. Really no way to know until then.

Ok i just was not sure considering it comes from swamp but i guess the water could be coming from under ground.

I found gold in a small creek before, slow moving water with even pickers in it... it had 4 foot banks, plenty of fines, and it wasn't no more than a foot wide

Ok sweet i will keep trying and maybe find some color

Like DizzyDigger says...sampling is the way to find out. They say...gold is where you find it! Good luck!! :-)

Dig down below the clay layer and see if any gravels appear if they do that's where any ancient gold would be.

GG~

has there been gold found in the area ever?

I did find gold at lake Lanier islands in Ga on some bedrock, wasn't even close to the river channels or creeks that flow into there, gold is literally found where you find it, I have been to gold Bering areas and had nothing and non gold bearing areas and found gold there. always pan your sites and see if color exsist, and not always on the top of the ground but in water scoop how deep you may want to dredge with several test pans
