Hello there. I have a mystery item and wanted to see if anyone had ever seen it before or knew what its purpose was. Its a small brass tag or something with the word BABY stamped into it. There was a small brittle hook or eyelet on the back but it disintegrated. This item was found on a late 1800's home site. House is long gone but there are plenty of items left behind. Thanks in advance.

Matt

Could have been attached to a crib or cradle.

Nice finds. My first view of a Baby plate.

Could have been anything. Like a hair piece or some other wearable item.

I agree with Creskol; it looks like a casket plate for a baby.

Unusual find :)

It had an eyelet or hook on the back and centered, like it could have been a pendant. Wouldnt a casket plate be glued or riveted on?
