I didn't think of that, would or could that not ruin it in anyway? Not being rude n crude, honestly curious. I do know that works w/other items I deal with.

Since its only a curiousity piece, probably not an artifact and it probably has no monetary value, I would say try it. Its probably something organic like a part of a bird bone or cartilage or maybe a seed pod. Did the pin stick into it in your first photos? Your first pics are blurry but it looks like a pin and it appears to already be stuck into the item.

I'm sorry, we had a straight pin holding it steady....duh, for some reason I was thinking you meant the "unkown object" had a pin in the end...guess I stepped on my own tongue here. I apologize for ANY & ALL confusion...esp. my own!!

Yes I thought the pin was stuck in the unknown object.

I cannot fathom it as a cocoon, for it def.seems like bone , but if you know of a method, naturally, to turn a cocoon into this boney type, weird thingy....please, enlighten me! *I'm just joking around, but in all reality, if there's something I don't understand or know. Would like to educate that area. Thanks!*
