I believe you have part of an hydraulic ram as shown in the cutaway below. It will be hard-chromed.

may not because it connected to a elbow type of tube which is not chromed, the elbow has been detached anyway .

Could you show us a pic of the elbow that was attached? It will help us make the ID?

it looks hydraulic with the chrome.
acetylene alone cannot melt steel.

It looks like a chromed steel tube from a hydraulic lift. If you want us to help you, you should have left the elbow attached and also tell us the whole story on where and how you found this piece of modern steel tubing. What makes you believe it has come from a jet? What makes you think it is platinum? :o ::) I see some rust on it.

that size tube, aircraft, should be part of the landing strut...would explaine the elbow also.

Maybe Blacksheep is right.

Was this found at a crash site?

Maybe it is a Titanium alloy.

I agree with the hydraulic theory
I'm curious about the poor condition of the inside
we can clearly see the one end has marking of permanent seal at one end
the the dull ribbed chrome finish surface
I don't thing it real old
where did the aircraft idea come from ?
looks like it could be a part of a jack

Hello Brady. That is what I would like to know. I wish he would explain where and how he found this and what makes him think it is from a jet aircraft. :icon_scratch: Even a suggestion of Platinum. ::)

Yes one end has corrosion where moisture has collected under the seal.

I dont want to sound negative but too many times we have a post from the Phillipines area suggesting a find of some importance but not given enough information and rarely a follow up. :(

OK thanks. I dont believe the JapaNese had the jet airplane until the very end of the waR AND WOULD NOT HAVE SEEN ACTION IN THE pHILLIPINES.

What else did you find?

everybodies opinion on this is acceptable , thats why we are searching for everybodies knowledge to identify what is this, even us can't identify this on wherein equipment it came from, \
on my other thread several others are giving some opinion on this, thanks for them,,

we appreciated all thoughts on this, through this forum we found out that it may be scrap metal that should keep as a souvenir from whatever era or equipment thus it came..

THAKS TO ALL ONCE AGAIN

I would think a crash site would yield some other pieces of metal.

Having been around aircraft and serviced for many years, I can assure this pic is in no way is associated to any type of landing gear
But maybe the aircraft was carrying millions in gold and landed in the Philippines
What hes showing is very modern
My opinion is this is a bogus post
Sorry
Just my opinion
