BAKERS BAY ... CAPTAIN JOHNSON was able to salvage $20,000 in $50 gold slugs. He planted multiple caches on his land. He drowned in 1857 and his wife was beaten by robbers but could not provide the cache site. AUBURN - WALLA WALLA ... J.M. SHEPHERD had a mail run from AUBURN TO WALLA WALLA. He charged 50 cents a letter and starting 1 august 1863 he usually carried 500 letters per trip.
