WESTCHESTER COUNTY - CROTON-ON-HUDSON - MONEY HILL ... over the years pieces of eight have been found. Road construction yielded nothing so the main cache still remains. source PAGE 158, GREAT UNSOLVED MYSTERIES OF NORTH AMERICA BY LIONEL MARTINEZ (1988)
LONG ISLAND - MONTAUK BEACH ... 19 men carrying bags of coin abandoned ship and their longboat overturned killing 17. The captain and one other escaped. The captain lived on the beach and searched until he eventually found one jar of gold coins. He used that money to build a ship and sailed away. source PAGE 102, LORE OF THE WRECKERS BY BIRSE SHEPARD (1961)

Another NY lead: I found this in a SC newspaper dated 5-25-1920. Ervin & Grover Bergdoll of Atlantic City, NJ were draft dodgers who were reported to have buried $105,000. in gold coins in the NY mountains and then they disappeared. It might be worth a little local research to learn the final outcome or if anything else was ever reported. Also, has this one been published in the treasure mags?
