Hi All. I mainly search halves but recently expanding my coin hunting denominations. I started six weeks ago and finally decided to create an account and post some of my finds. I also have Harris folders and am trying to fill them up though my hunting.

My first box of halves on Aug. 29 yielded two JFK 90% and I was instantly hooked in CRH.

I got my second box on Sept. 6 and was so excited to find my first 40% and walker.

My third box on Sept 13 gave me another walker.

My forth box was a total skunk which was disappointing because I was on such a roll. That made me want to search dimes (1) to fill in my needs for my folder and (2) to hopefully find something. I ordered 2 boxes of dimes for the following week in addition to my normal halves box.

My fifth box of halves was another skunk but luckily I had two boxes of dimes! I found 2 rosies and 2 Canadian 80%. I found many non silver Canadian dimes, which made me annoyed because I thought they were more silver but I knew going in that would happen. Anyways I did not order more dimes because I just have one left to finish my folders.

I got my brothers addicted to CRH as well. My little brother searches pennies and has been very lucky finding almost a roll in four boxes and my older brother searched nickels. My older brother got tired of it and decided to stop after his third box and didn't finish the third box so I bought it from him this week.

I found 5 silver nickels and was skunked again from my halves. I did find a golden looking JFK not sure what it is or if it is special. I decided to up my order to two boxes a week of halves and 1 box of nickels. This coming week and next week I will do 4 boxes each week in hopes of finding something and then go back down to two boxes.

Anyways, I will start posting my finds weekly from now on. Oh I found 2 40% JFK from tellers unwrapped in the last few weeks too.

Looks like you're off to a good start so far. That was a great nickel box and some pretty good dime boxes and half boxes too. You've already found two '64's and two Walkers which is great. I've only managed to find 5 Walkers from 153 half boxes so far this year (and I found one more Walker from some loose halves a couple of weeks ago).

Good luck and H$H!

Sweet find! Looking forward to your log.

Heard Pitsburgh is great results for coin roll hunting (I'm stuck up here in WA near Seatlle :BangHead:) Great results and keep hunting!
Also when your doing nickels keep an eye out for key dates (1950D,1950,1955S,1949S,1948S,1938D&S,1939D&S) And anything older than 1938

I think five war nickels in a single box is a record. Awesome. Decent dime boxes too.

ah, Brinks. They rock.

This weekend I did 4 boxes of Halves and a box of nickels.

Halves
box 7: skunk
box 8: skunk did find a 1994s
box 9: 3 40% (2) 1968d and 1967
box 10: skunk

I was happy to end my 8 box dry streak!

nickles
box 2: 1945s 1936 buffalo also of note close to uncirculated 1962d and 1942 non-silver

Next week I'll do another 4 boxes of halves then go down to two boxes a week

Halves

Box 11: skunk
Box 12: skunk
Box 13: skunk
Box 14: skunk

Nickels

box 3: 2 1945-P and 1 1943-P
box 4: 1928 buffalo also found a 2005 P ocean view nickel with color on it not sure what it is from thought

Lastly, my bank that has been supplying the boxes called and said they cannot order any more change for us because their security department is concerned about the amount of change they have been ordering. Looks like I am done searching boxes and will have to do small increments

Hey silvercounselor, I see that you're in Pittsburgh. There is a fairly large regional bank headquartered downtown that will likely be able to order boxes for you without too much of an issue... Good luck.

Well it's been awhile. Since being cut off by my bank ordering my boxes I have been going to my local bank every other week getting 50 dollars worth of change normally 40 in nickles and 10 in dimes. The first week (about 6 weeks ago) I found just a dateless buffalo. Then about 4 weeks ago I found 2 war nickles. Two weeks ago I just found 2 needs for my folders which is still a huge find for me! This past week I found 2 war nickles and a dateless buffalo.

I'm planning on updating more frequently now. Still pretty disappointed I got cut off just a few weeks into buying boxes. I've also picked up about 200 loose dollars worth of JFK, Susan B Anthony and Eisenhower dollars nothing special out of the lot.

Nice finds. It's been a whole bunch of boxes since I've found a war nickel. My boxes are Loomis, and I hear a lot of people saying Loomis boxes are lousy. I'm beginning to think they are right. I use Brinks for halves and have done pretty well. I will have to try Brinks for the other denominations and see if I do better.

Searched another 50 dollars worth of change.

$2 - halves skunk
$2 - cents skunk
$46 - nickels skunk

I did find 4 needs for my nickel books. One of which was a 1950 P!

Also found 2 1955 D but not sure if its a d over s I'll post a picture but i doubt it is but ever hopeful!

A 1950 P is a nice find--one of the toughest of all to find. I recently found a 1950 and a 1950-D in the same box and was completely blown away.

Searched 48 rolls of nickels, 6 CWR and 18 MWR.

I found no silver, buffalo or V nics.

I did find 2 1952 s which I needed for my folder so I guess it was a win after all. I only need 17 more to have a completed Jefferson set - 6 of which are silver ones.

Got to wait 2 weeks for another batch.

Keep searching those nickels and you'll be surprised how few empty holes you have after a while. Search a box a week for a year and you might only have a few empty holes by the end of the year.

12/13/14

Searched $40 worth of nickels and $10 worth of dimes - skunked

didnt even find anything for my folders.

12/19/14

$50 Dimes CWR - skunked

50 Nickels ($12 CWR) ($38 MWR) - 1943 P

Over the weekend I went home to my parents to help clean their house up some and decided to dump my coins from the other day. I was waiting in line to redeem my ticket with the teller and I asked if she had any big dollar coins the Eisenhowers. She looked at me like I was talking a foreign language and asked her manager what they were and the girl beside her said I have 5 and the guy down there may have a few! I said can I take them all? She said sure, they were glad to get rid of them. I went home and scanned for any silver 40% and there were none. When I got back form my parents I decided to look more closely at the 1972s and 1976s for the different varieties. There was 1 type I 1776-1976, which I keep and a 1972 II! My first one. I have all the 1976 and 1972 varieties now.

type ii a.jpgtype ii b.jpgtype ii c.jpgtype ii d.jpg

Neat find, silvercounselor. I've searched over 900 Ikes so far and haven't been able to find this variety. It's pretty much the only Ike I've really been looking for. Congrats!
