silver?

hor do u know if a coin is made of silver or not? stupid question i know, but dont be so hard on a non american :-)
i read some of u guys put the coins into oil, is that right, what kind of oil, how long?

Hello sebert,,,
All American Dimes, & Quarters were silver up to, and including 1964. Also, I'm sure there have been special coins since then.. You can tell by looking at the edges, it should be silver all the way through, no copper should be seen... I think the oil your thinking about is olive oil... Hope this help...
