On newer silver I use warm water and a Q-tip, if it’s really cruddy, add some soap or lemon juice in the water. Just warm water leaves a nice patina. Nice walker!!!!

Great find. Congratulations :icon_thumright:

Detected a friend's 1600-era yard for an hour. Didn't find anything particularly old, but did find a gorgeous 1940 half dollar. Question - how best to clean it without in any way doing more harm than good?

The best way to clean your silver coin is with a number 2 pencil eraser. Gently erase both sides. Repost your coin afterwards. You will be amazed!

Well coins found in the ground are graded ED eviornmentally damaged so most coins are just worth the silver content value even key dates lose value being in the ground to collectors so if not a key date I wouldnt worry to much about damaging it if you clean it up to you. Very nice find.

Yep, theres no special value to this so dont worry about the cleaning. Just hit it with a toothbrush under some running water, dry it, and put it in your collection.

Congrats on the walker, she's got some nice detail..!

Awesome find! I haven't found a Walker in over a year. Don't clean it! Looks good as is. Just a little soap and water if you really feel the need. You'll only damage it if you try abrasive cleaning methods.

All I do to my silvers, is water them off, and rub easily with my fingers. I prefer to leave the patina or toning on a coin the way it came out of the ground, so I can remember it that way. Nice job on the Walker.

Love that big silver!!

Congrats on the big silver recovery! :icon_thumleft:
