HEY GUYS AND GALS

This is a combined hunt of 7hrs total.

A few ..WHAT IS IT ...items ...any help on identifying would be appreciated.

The seated is a HALF DIME...not sure of the date..either 1881 or 1861.

The old copper with no date is a mystery to me !

Old REV WAR BUTTON ...don,t know what is on it... the curl on the bottom makes me believe it is not a 5.....I found this mornings hunt ....last 7 pictures.

The bale seal.... has C H on the bottom...my initials..kinda funny.

Ty for looking !!

I dug this butter knife in My front yard last year when I first got started M.D. ing , its marked Sterling but is Bubbling and peeling , so Yours just may be solid silver or Pewter? View attachment 960958
I believe on sterling butter knives, just the handle would be sterling..........a sterling blade would not be strong enough to stand use.

ty kzoo and trezure

Hope my luck continues. !!

Wow, Aqua!! ..........You're making "Killer" finds every day!!!:icon_thumright:

I,m sure it will come to an abrupt end soon....can,t last forever but sure is fun hunting when almost every run find something good.

Days I miss finding something good ...Cousin ED usually finds something good which I like also...keeps him interested !!

He is 62 and is old school..doesn,t have a computer..so I post his if he hits something good with an honorable mention of course....but I find it just as fun watching him find stuff .

I'm watching this space, your close to the big one.....

I keep looking for that extra special find...I,m sure it is there somewhere but I,m more than happy with the results.....been a good winter for finds...not so much for weather.

Try again tomo if it isn,t too cold..giving -11 overnight....so sick this weather is.

The flat oval-shaped piece of lead with a notch is a flint holder or wrap. It helped to secure a piece of lead in the jaw of a flintlock weapon - pistol or musket.

Sounds pretty cool...ty....

Can you find a picture of one on the gun so I can see how it woulda worked...interesting !!

Hope you keep on making finds from that time period. I've enjoyed viewing those buttons. Pretty incredible! Hope to see more photo's! Congrats!

Gonna be a challenge....that spot is getting beat....but one thing i have learnt this winter...it is impossible to clean out a spot....

Just need to look in the not so easy nooks and crannies as well as clean out the junk from junky areas.....always something extra hiding on us !!!

That's sweet...I thought that the lead piece you found was gun related but I'm not sure about it being a flint wrap. I've found a musket flint still in the wrap and the lead was pretty plain...but who knows!

Did you find the button on the hunt on Saturday afternoon? I got out on Sunday evening...found two buttons but both were plain...the hunt continues!

You came close then.... finding 2 ...the odds would say one would be a military...baaa...the next one will be !!

No... found that 1 Sunday morning...very short hunt 2 hrs..... ED made it out Sunday afternoon but I didn,t make it....he didn,t have any luck.

Found 3 cannonballs tonight tho...will post shortly.

You can find many helpful pictures by looking up "lead flint wrap" on Google Images. It certainly looks too decorative for a flint wrap, but soldiers had to find a way to pass time, i.e., working on carved lead.
