Detector(s) used
Tesoro Tejon, Garrett Ace 350.
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
I went south yesterday, since the ground here is frozen solid with another inch of snow on the ground this morning. I had a good day finding 324 coins (most in two years for one day), including 120 quarters and 111 dimes. I also found a silver mans CTR ring.
The unusual find was a one ounce silver round found on top of the ground. It had a buffalo nickel design. In 39 years of detecting, this is the only bullion coin I have ever found. It was only 20 feet from where I found my only whole roll of quarters in one spot. I'll be glad when this worthless winter is over....Kane 23

Most of you are great guys! After some big football games in the fall I almost don't need a detector,I'm not a Zen master though. After games this last fall I found two tens and one five dollar bill ,laying on top of the ground. after a game the year before I Found 22 quarters just laying in one spot, where anyone would have seen them.I have found half a dozen decent watches just laying there. If you find fields with sloping grassy areas around them, that is where you will find the HUGE amount of coins. At the moment the ground is frozen here so my totals are low, 40 friday,38 saturday and 25 sunday, along with two non silver rings. I hope you people who have warmer weather are taking advantage. Good hunting, kane 23

I'm sorry so many people doubt without pictures, not much I can do about it. Also sorry there is censorship, some people can get really mean I guess.

Don't sweat it. The guy has all of two posts and the first one got yanked :)

Nice digs.
I'm not a coin shooter myself, but I have no doubt those types of numbers are possible. One day, I'm gonna just go for it :)

Nice finds . I know how you feel . I thought I was the last person alive without a home computer . I've got lots of colonial and plantation stuff to show whenever I do get one .

That is an awesome clad count for one hunt! I have been fortunate and had a few of those high clad count hunts, a great feeling of accomplishment and a sore back and legs the next day, LOL. There are a few American football fields I know of (I'm in Germany) will give them a shot sometime. Germans just do not lose much in the places Americans do, I have tried many times. So, would that silver round found on the ground be a ground round, LOL? Congrats and HH, Mike

If I'm after a high coin count, I don't dig pull tabs usually,as I said earlier, tune out those nickels and Zinc pennies if you want to find more. If your after gold rings, then dig all those pull tabs! Also use a small loop, those big loops discriminate out coins by junk all the time. I use a Tesoro Tejon with a 3 by 7 inch loop, great also for finding coins on edge.
I'm glad to hear that others out there can't afford all the equipment or for other reasons don't have a home computer like me,as the man says; "Good Hunting" Kane 23

There are three inches of snow on the ground still here, the turf is solid ice, looking for a warm up soon or at least a trip to Vegas,no new detecting until things change. kane 23

Shawn,
The 324 coin day was down south(50 miles) where the ground is'nt frozen,my count in the ice is far less..Kane23

Nice finds. What kind of area where you digging in?

Can we get some pictures, especially closeups.
SKD

CONGRATS. ON THE FINDS. WISH I COULD HAVE A FEW DAY'S LIKE THAT.

Kane, I have the opposite problem as yourself....I have a digital camera(trying to figure out how to use it gives me migraines) and a computer(so outdated a rock hurling neanderthal would laugh at it)
As far as detectors go..i haven't one myself yet(the two i have used were borrowed and since then returned).

Not sure if and when i will be able to buy my own detector,so until then i live vicariously through the Tnet members that have one and find incredible things that they post(one day i hope to be half the bloodhound that you are now)

Shawn,
You can get a decent garret or tesoro for less than the price of a digital camera, you should look into it from a discount dealer like kellyco. then you can post your own finds. I'm hoping for half a day in Vegas next week. Good hunting...Kane23

excellent finds Kane... I always like reading your posts, gives me inspiration and get up and go...

Those are some super numbers! I seldom hit the football fields as they are generally fenced in around here, but I will certainly be on the lookout after seeing how many coins you find there. It stands to reason that older people using those fields (compared to little kids using the tot lots) would lose larger amounts of clad and jewelry. Again, congrats on the stupendous numbers.

The football fields themselves are not that great, it is the area around the fields where all the change is,although some fields are good for rings. Find areas where people sit to watch the games on the grass, same goes for baseball and other athletic fields. While your there see if you can find where students eat their lunch outside. Best day to search middle and high schools is Sunday. Kane23
