I went out for a little hunt after work on Friday night. I hit an older school... right in the front yard, where the kiddies would got into the school. The first hour was uneventful, I was hitting the usual clad and some trash... then I got a nice 94 on the Deus... When I flipped the plug over, there was a slivery white disc looking at me... and it was bigger than a dime... YES... 1958 quarter. I took a pic... sent a taunting text to my buddies and proceeded onward. It couldn't get any better than this.

13 minutes later... I get another 94... NO WAY... (Prior to this, I had only dug 3 quarters all year)... The signal was perfect... I just could not believe it... It was really loud and clear, so whatever it is... it's not very deep. I dug down less than 3" and out comes a 1951 quarter.

I just sat there on the ground looking at the 2 silver quarters in my hand, I dug them within 15 minutes of each other. I couldn't get that stupid grin off of my face the rest of the night.

That is silver coins #24 and #25 YTD.
Thanks for looking.

Nice. The tally continues to grow.

ah, the stupid grin! is this the very same grin seen on the faces of those who just dug up something very sweet? yep! congrats Tom, a sweet double!

Nice, silver quarters are exciting to dig!

Sweet, sweet silver Tom. :occasion14:
Way to go,
Doug

Nothing like the sweet gleam of silver! Awesome finds congrats!

Congrats on the pair of silver quarters. It must give you a sense of pride to have found these little treasures in a school yard that has probably been hunted hundreds of times. And yet you found and saved them. Job very well done!!!

I accidently threw my 1864 IH penny and it fell underneath my deck so it might be lost forever now! It was in a plastic cup soaking in a little olive oil. Had a cat fight on the deck so I quick grabbed what I thought was the water cup on the counter and filled it with water. I sprang to the deck and tossed the water at the cats. Then realized it was the cup that had contained my IH penny. I couldn't find it on the deck so assume it fell through the cracks.

It seems like silver quarters are a tough find these days, since they would have been the "low hanging fruit" in the early
days of metal detecting - especially at school yards and city parks . Finding two at a school yard seems almost miraculous
to me . Well done .

That's priceless... It's your avatar coin and you lost it in cat fight. :cat: I knew that there something I really liked about cat.

Next time I am at your house, I will climb under there and try to find it for you.

I got a great idea, instead of throwing copper at the cats, why don't you throw silver... like that Walker or your Barber quarter... that would get them to quit fighting for sure!

Sorry buddy, I just can't resist.

Sweet silver duo there !! Great saves =)
