silver plate coral cleaning

hi, can anyone tell me how i should go to cleanup this silver plate.
first i think i need to remove the corals and encrusted sand, how and whats next no idea.

also could anyone tell me some more about this plate, i found it at a shipwreck in the Caribbean.

I know when we used to get barnacles on the bottom of our boat, we would put muriatic acid on them and watch it eat em away.Of course that was on a fiberglass hull,probably wouldn't get along with the silver plate.
