It really is a shame that our coinage strayed from depicting images of Lady Liberty. The Lincoln cent, then the Washington quarter, followed by the Roosevelt dime and Kennedy half all started out with the intention of being a commemorative coin but was quickly decided to keep the design instead of reverting back to Liberty. Many decades ago the thought process of those making the decisions apparently felt it was more important to pay tribute to politicians instead of the ideals and values on which the nation was founded. Pretty sad in my opinion.
