I found this last weekend but don't know what it is. It came up as silver on my detector and was bent in half, I had to straighten it a little. This thing is 2 1/2 inches in length and is engraved on the back. The initials are K. J. W. and it is dated 3-5-95. Could it be 1895? I was thinking maybe it part of a hair barrette but there is no place for anything to be attached to it. Any ideas?
(comment) I should add that the piece was bent off to one side as if it was done by accident. There was no roundness to it so it would not have been a ring. I believe that the piece was originally a straight piece.
(comment) After looking at the suggestions that everyone has sent in, I have changed my opinion. It would be possible that someone took a man's ring(is does have fish on it and is large enough) and very carefully straightened it out. Later it could have for some reason been bent in half and thrown out. I found it in a yard of a house that my daughter is renting in Ferndale, Michigan. Maybe when I get a chance I will do a search of the address and see if I can come up with a name to go with the initials. Hope that I can find the time. Thanks everyone for the identity suggestions. If there are any more I would be interested in hearing them. Should I add a silver ring to my list of finds? :dontknow: :laughing9:
(comment) I attempted to bend it into a man's ring but the little rope thing broke. It didn't look so great. I then restraightened it. It looks better straight. Think I'll leave it that way.

Looks like one of those Native American bracelets. If its silver, it should be marked. What state are you in?

Then again maybe not. I just realized the size. Childs bracelet? It looks definitely modern with no patina.

2 1/2 inches is pretty small, even for a childs wrist. I'm thinking it was a ring that had engraving on the inside of the band. I agree with it being modern.

It's just a small child's ring that got straightened out, and then hit by a lawn mower after it was lost. It is definately not a money clip.

money clip is correct for the length of this item.

A money clip that is 1 1/4 inches long?

I think this is an inexpensive ring with a loaves and fishes theme, bought at the Jesus Theme Park and Gun Show after taking a ride on the perilous waterfalls of the "Jonah and the Whale" ride on an inflatable raft.

Usually one side is shorter than the other, Also might have been a tie clip. Though have seen tie clips used for money clips.
notice how the wrapped bands have separated. This would have been the area of a curve in the original item. It would not have been just a full fold as shown by the crease in the metal. Still a good find, I would say modern due to the thin backing.

Have you seen these rings? Your guess seems to make a lot of sense.
