My 1st silver of 2023 was a 1890 O Morgan Dollar!
I’m still in shock and can’t believe I actually found one. It was on my bucket list ever since I started metal detecting almost 3 years ago.
Found with the Legend using the 6” coil in heavy iron.

Huge Congrats! That beauty was deep! Did you think it could be a silver dollar from the vdi number on your detector?
Thanks!
The tone and VDI was perfect. I was running in Park Multi 2 with all iron on (I like to hear the iron).
Had the recovery set at 7 and in 60 tones.
The VDI was a stable 58-60 and wouldn’t waver from those numbers. I did a complete 360 and was hitting it perfect on all sides. I had the thought that it could be a silver dollar, but wasn’t expecting it to actually be one…lol
I honestly thought it was big or deep iron, but when I would lift my coil off the ground it would go away and pinpointed small.
Was one of those tones that was to good to be true.

Great find. And nicely dug BTW. Welcome to the Legend Legion.

AMAZING FIND 1!! Thanks for SHOWING US. What type of area was it in ?

Thank you
I was detecting an old farm house that was built in the 1860’s.
Has been in the family for 100 years.

THANKS KODY !!

Excellent!!!! Not an easy coin to dig. Quite the contrast to another elusive silver coin, the trime. Both are probably on many people's lists.
Absolute! I would also love to find a Trime! My next big bucket lister is to find an intact crotal bell.

Just found a trime after Thanksgiving. 1857. Whole crotal is tough. Only have 1. And pieces of them. Plows are not kind to them.

Can you post a pic of the Trime?

What did that coin ring up?
When it was in the ground it was hitting a 58-60, but once I got it out and swung over it it was hitting 55-56. I think the massive amount of iron around it was throwing off the VDI. When it was still in the ground the tone was great just the VDI was a little off.
