Silver, Booty, & a 100 Coin day attempt=3 personal bests.

Started the metal detecting weekend Friday morning, as I didn't have to show up to work until 2pm. Ran across a few wheats here, some memorials there, and finally stumbled into the merc. Frostiest look ever coming out the ground against that dark soil. That was part 1 of Friday. Part 2 took me to another park after work, where I dug and dug until I ran into the booty in the photos......literally. The larger token, which I found first I thought was a quarter. The second was in proximity, but not in the same hole, but about 9 inches away. Looks like someone lost their booth money. First 2 token day. That was Friday.

Saturday..........with all the 100 and 200 coin day talk around here, I figured I'd give that a try myself. I took 2 hours of the day to dedicate to swinging nice and slow for silver, and it worked out with the two dimes and quarter. First 3 Silver day for me. Most I find is usually 1 or 2. After that and with about 30 coins in the bag, it was time to shoot for that 100. It turned into an all out assault, only the nickels and zinc pennies were spared. Somewhere in between, with about 69 coins in the bag, it started to rain with thunder in the background. I thought great, there goes that. Luckily it cleared up and I continued. At one point things really started getting silent, with plenty of time going in between a find. I simply decided that I wouldn't stop until my body could take it no more. That point eventually came. Not being sure whether I met the quota or not, I pulled everything out and counted 100 coins plus some. The final tally was 112 coins including the 2 mercs and silver quarter for a face value of $10.81. 28 Quarters, 33 Dimes and 51 pennies, 17 of them wheats. I am not doing that anytime soon. My body feels like I got hit by a car.

During the clad madness, I did the worst thing ever........although I'm not 100% sure if it was me, I'm about 99%....I dinged/found the Lewis & Clark token pictured. I'm not all too familiar with it, or if it's even real. I did some quick research and it appears to have been a commemorative token? Can anyone shed some light on this one? I really regret not being more careful. Sucks. I guess you have to treat every target as though there's a seated dime or suffer the consequences.

Hey Ricardo looks like you found an old "adult video peep show machine" token. From NYC's Times Square & 42nd Street's raunchy days, before it became another Disneyland.. Don't ask me how I knew that, ::)hehe.. Back then it was like the wild west down there.... :o, Hey it may be worth something some day...
