I was curious so I did a little more digging also. From the way it looked in the photo I thought it was strictly german silver, which contains no silver at all. But apparently the marking "comstock silver" indicates it has a silver overlay (which is thicker than electroplate) bonded over a base of german silver. I hate that term "german silver", it is such a misnomer since it contains no silver at all. Learned something new today.
