So I drove 3 hours to SC yesterday to detect an old mid-1800's plantation house. I was told it had been detected before, but I figured I would give it a shot.
This house was actually moved to this current location back in early 1900. Unfortunately, the owners were unsure of the exact location that it was moved from. One said a mile away, and one said 4 miles away.
I spent about an hour looking for the owners sister's lost college ring, but no luck. I dug about 20lbs of rusty farm iron and aluminum scraps.
While looking for the ring I dug this cool old "Junior Marshall" badge. I'm guessing 50's or 60's. :dontknow: It's a heavy weight cast badge with a different metal (copper?) in the center.
I broke one of the points off while digging it up. :BangHead:
The other side of the house produced two vintage Tootsie Toy cars , a 1942 "D" Merc dime, and a small sterling ring.
Not really worth 6 hours of driving, but I had to find out.
Thanks for L@@King,
MM

Thanks. I believe those TT's are from the 60's correct? I remember going back to a farmhouse up in Indiana where we grew up as kids in the 60's. I dug up some of our TT's, a Chicago Cubs pin, and one of those metal bombs that you load a cap into and toss it onto a hard surface. Like my brothers head. :laughing7:

Love the badge, my grandson would think those cars were the best ever! You're in a good spot!

Yep The TT's are from the 60's and 70's and I remember those cap bombs.

Now you can sleep at night knowing you went and checker it out! Plus you made some good finds!
Exactly. I will be going back in the future. I want to walk some of his field properties (about 800 acres). Some have an old RR and streams running through them. There was both CW and Rev war skirmishes nearby too.
I need to plan a trip for a few days there to get a feel for the area.

Sounds like a good little camping trip for a weekend.

Very nice finds - congrats !
I love that badge. It’s not the small cheap toy ones I’m used to seeing. This was a life sized badge and good quality. Maybe 1950’s?
