Signal trees...........

I ran away from home saturday and went to hide in the woods. While wondering around and about a mile in I came across a shelter that looks like it has some potential. I have added it to my S.I.L.F. list, you know, Shelters I'd Like to Filter. Anyway, I scoped it out a minute, and logged the location in my mind, and moved on to what I was actually out in the woods doing (running away) I past the shelter and went over a couple of hills and ravines maybe a qt mile or so past the shelter I turned back around. On returning from the opposite side and the rear of the shelter I came across the three trees, all in a row leaning the same direction (toward the shelter) . I wouldn't know the age of these trees but they don't look too old, maybe 70 years or so, just not sure . I couldn't get all three in same picture . I know the natives used to create signal trees to mark direction or etc. possibly some 19th century settlers picked up on an old tradition and marked the shelter. I know there could be some signal trees still out there from the old tribes but these don't look that old, it's just odd they are very near the shelter and point to it . Or maybe it was just a natural way they happened to grow somehow.

I recently went on a tree hunt(really) for the state of Texas, looking for really big trees and I got to go with a tree expert who told our group about odd looking trees and how Indians use to bend trees down to tell others that there was good fishing or allot of game in the area.We also brought up the fact that maybe they were bent or pointing, in away to show water, direction, or maybe buried treasure. He just chuckled :laughing7: :laughing7:
