shriners, 3 widows, movie star, and other assorted "stuff"
Well, what a stragne assortment of finds I had last night. I went to a spot across the street from where I had found some really good stuff last year (there are condos over there now). There were houses on this site once, but now it is a big grassy area with a lot of modern trash. We (offcenter and I) managed to find some goodies there despite the junk. The coins were few, but I found what could be a civil war buckle, a merry widows condom tin , lots of clock and pocket watch parts (not all are shown), the cool little sign that says "thomasville ice & mfg co ICE-SODA WATER-COAL", a bunch of little tack like items that say "philip carey" on the heads, a shriner's emblem, and a token with a movie star as the theme I guess? I heven't researched it yet. I had to clean the crap out of it just to see what it said. By then, I had ruined any chance of having a good patina on it, so I polished it up a bit. I don't like copper this clean, but it's better than being so cruddy you can't see what it is. I could tell it wasn't a coin though, or I would have been less vigorous about cleaning it.
