Epic hunt for me tonight at my mom and dads! showing a newbie and his fiancée the ropes at the old 1800s hotel my parents own. 4 wheats(1920, 1951, 1945, 1941), two silver dimes (1941 1951) and the two biggies, 1908D Silver Half dollar and old belt buckle. not bad for 2hrs of not really paying attention and trying to teach another future hunter. I think this may have been detrimental to his development and I kept telling him this doesn't happen most of the time in our area! The barber has a ghostly white hue to it unlike any other silvers I've found. Thanks for looking.

but its so easy, the first time, this guy found.... hey you looked really good and when he gets out on his own, he will realize how really great those finds really are. congrats

See that's what ya get for helping teach newbies lol! that is sweet, congrats!

Thanks everyone. It felt good to get a young couple(mid 20s) into the sport but I now know I did damage. About an hour after we were home they were on a metal detecting Facebook page asking for all kinds of setting changes because I found all these coins and they found a wheat and a bunch of junk. They had less than 10hrs of detecting time prior and I'm afraid this trip took the patience right out of them.

When I started, I was told to put in 100 hrs on the machine before I'd start to understand it. Metal detecting teaches patience, and those who can't be patient won't be detecting for long lol.

Nice half you were rewarded by the detecting gods lol. Nice of you to spend time teaching them

Very cool finds, you've got the newbies hooked!!!

Sweet big silver. :occasion14: First 2 silver halves I found were barbers. I love the design of the barber coins.
