Nice examples Blaze.
I'm posting the ones I can find, many buried in group shots.
First 3 pix same key, note the wearmark, well used key..
Kinda fun that I got one with an iron bit, and one with iron handle (rusted away)
And the matching key & mechanism find.
and the last one pictured with uncut bit
Oh yeah, can't forget the Happy Key..
These all go to my sisters collection, she loves them.
(her house sets on part of one of the oldest farms around, 1694 W&M copper, several LCs, IHs, Rosettes, and some rare buttons found there)
I know others out there got some goodies
Let's see em !!

Herbie now that i look at this key again i realize how unique that lock is for this key

First of those I've seen Bill
Johnny,
from what I've read,
Old warded lock keys were cut first, then the lock was constructed to fit the key,
all the slots cut into it would fit through the 'wards', which prevented any key without the right slots from turning in the lock.

Unidentified key found from mid 1800's site.

After a lot of research, I discovered that a motel once stood in the spot I've been hunting. It burned in the late 1800's. Was a booming place in its day. I'm in North Central MS. This motel had fresh seafood served frequently. (Guess that explains the oyster shells I kept finding ) It was located near a main railway of the day. Still don't know what such a large brass key would have opened.

Here are a couple of mine. The first one was found at a civil war site. The second one is a railroad key. Thanks for looking.

Man great r.r. key! That's nice, but I LOVE that M.K.T. Lines Brakeman tag/badge! THAT IS AWESOME!!!! Keys are common, but something like that, WOW! TWO GREAT FINDS!!! Congrats!
