Would this be worth it? I have two stock and the BOT coil, sunray adapted pinpointer and grey ghost headphones. I would have to sell it, and probably my little fishing boat that I have had on the water less than 2 hours in the last two years, to get my wife to approve. I have spots where I have found barbers, indian heads and standing liberty's (awesome finds in my part of the world, western kansas, settled in 1870's to 1880's) and I think there is more there in the trash as I worked hard to get a signal on those I have found. Thoughts, comments? All feedback would be appreciated.

No HELL NO ! Your Explorer 2 is the best machine in my opinion. I'll trade you an xterra 705 with 2 years warranty left on it if you don't want it !!!

I have been using the Deus for about six months now and I fill like I'm really starting to learn this machine. Prior to the Deus I was using a V3i. Very nice machine but I found myself constantly adjusting it; with the Deus I fill as if I am making settings changes because they are needed. The Deus has been described by so many people as a "tone machine". With extremely fast recovery rate or reactivity and is well suited for working in iron. It seems with any detector there is a little "give and take", probably the only downside would be the construction I'm a little hard on my machine.

I never said I didn't want it, my explorer has been good to me. Farmsteads, including my great grandfathers, which my brother owns, are full of iron. Lotsa iffy signals at the park, is the deus as good at picking up the good in the middle of the bad as they say? Thanks Fletch, I value your opinion.

Thank you for your honest opinion. I don't treat detectors like my kids, they get abused. Not my kids, the detectors....well for the most part.

This is what I want to know. With the 3.2 all tones, can I find more? My brother has dug up a WWI signia and a Duesenberg toy car while planting his garden will the deus help me find things that I can't hear otherwise?

I had an Etrac and now currently own a DEUS. Still learning the Deus, but I like it more than the Etrac.
The etrac was slow, and would bog down in high trash.
The Deus is super fast. I can lay 10 coins down, each one being less than an inch apart and swing over them and hear every one with the Deus. It sounds like a machine gun.
If youre looking for something to work hi trash, in my opinion the Deus is the machine to go with.
The Recovery speed is called Reactivity. There is a stock program called Deus Fast and it is set at 3.
Reactivity settings are (1-5). You rarely ever need to use more than 2 or 3.
There are lots of good videos out there on youtube, maybe you should watch some before you make your decision.

I see you never used a deus before?
There is no comparison between them. Its like driving a Ugo, compared to a Cadillac.
And as far as being tuff? You can drive a car over it and it will not brake..
Believe, i have owned almost evey top of the line detector out, and the only thing that comes close is the CTX.

Yes. To answer your question.
You will pick up every signal, and it will not null like your Explorer.
You will most definitely find more if its there.. Guaranteed! !
Just my 2 cents..

Deus

I have been using the Deus for about six months now and I fill like I'm really starting to learn this machine. Prior to the Deus I was using a V3i. Very nice machine but I found myself constantly adjusting it; with the Deus I fill as if I am making settings changes because they are needed. Don't worry about damaging the Deus - it's super tough and can take the abuse. When I get a signal and "x" the area to dig, I simply drop the machine if the control box is not mounted - it's so light that it doesn't matter, try doing that with any other machine and I'll bet it's own weight will take its toll after a while.

This machine lives in the trunk of my car - cold, hot, vibration, humidity, crazy driving, etc - it just doesn't matter. Turns on and performs like a champ every time. Only issue I have currently is that one WS5 headphone doesn't work and the earphone cushions are peeling from a few rainy hunts...

Would say the weakest link is the control box as it is not waterproof like the coil and headphones.

This is as close to the perfect machine as you can get IMO for general purpose use as well as specialized hunting - when I get settled more into CO I will try my hand at gold prospecting but for now it's coins and jewelry!

Your interest in the XP Deus is well founded.
The Deus does have a steep learning curve, but it is worth the wait.
I've owned the Deus for over two years and still don't think I've mastered it.
I came from the Whites and Garretts and kept my Whites because I was so comfortable with it and felt I needed it to fall back on.
Haven't used it in two years... I keep it now as a loner.
I have hunting partners that don't call for a hunt, because I consistently out hunt them. (too competitive)
The speed of this machine is un-matched. Like as Bonepicker said you can run it as fast as you like over a 3/4" tow chain and hear every link!!
When hunting in heavy trash it will hit those targets that are next to or even on top of iron. IMG_0444.JPG

If I were you I'd try to keep the old standby as your go to when you get frustrated and sell it when you get used to the Deus.
The Deus is very adjustable to any hunting condition and so lite it's hard to go back to the old machines...
Good luck with your decision.

Vino would know!

One of the guys I hunt with went from Ex2 to Deus but could not handle the upgrade. It was too fast for him, it was way too light, and the whole cordless headset thing, just confused him. He used the Deus off and on for about 3 months, then swapped it for an Etrac. Point being, not everyone is going to like the Deus. There are people that like the 1980s!

I have used mine exclusively for over a year. I have found 93 silver coins with it in 13 months!

If you don't like it, the resale value is good, so you wouldn't lose but $150 or so!

Who goes fast ! I've fallen for my Sov Elite. True love, and yes, slower even still over my Explorer XS. But amazing !

Thanks for all the input and advice. My new Deus is on the way.

Never mind the fact that it's light as a feather, sleekly designed, WIRELESS....the recovery speed and intelligence of the Deus sets it apart.

One question on XP Deus. The batteries are built in. What happens when batteries wont hold charge for very long. Do you buy a new coil $$$$$ remote $$$$% head set ? Just curious

My guess is $1600.00 every couple 3 years for a new machine. Batteries do fail, high heat, cold.

Yes sir enjoy your Deus and putting out all the money on battery's it will cost you ... My self because of the battery set up i would never buy one.. It is a very poor design to me...
