Shotgun shell

Found a Wards, Redhead Reliance 12 ga. shotgun shell head today, never heard of that one before so trying to find out what info I can out of curiosity. Saw elsewhere a guy pinned it down to being made between the 20's and 50's. Anybody know anything about these things?

Back in the late 40's early 50's I was shooting a Ward's Hercules 12 gauge double, using the cheapest ammunition I could find. I know Monkey Wards had their own brand of ammunition, but I don't recollect the name on it now, or if I ever used it. But if it was cheap I probably did. I remember having a girl ask me to the Sadie Hawkens dance, and I wouldn't go, because for the same money I could buy two or three shotgun shells. Dang, in those days I knew my priorities, then something happened. When President Kennedy was assassinated was when both Wards and Sears quit selling guns and ammo, so Wards might have had the Redhead Shot Shells up until 1964 when those anti mail order gun laws were enacted, but I don't know that for sure.

Are there even any shotgun shells worth any value (speaking of ones you dig) I have a whole bucket full of old shotgun shells from 1900s up to 1970s at least. We always joke if each shotgun shell was $1 each we would be living like kings.

HutSiteDigger I do believe some of the older stuff is indeed collectible.....if you have a lot in good condition you might be able to make a few bucks off of 'em. I've been looking around a little on-line and have found a lot of shells and even the boxes for 'em up for sale.

Boats....or more accurately fellow Boats (I'm a retired BMC) appreciate the info, I'm guessing it was dropped in the 60's......but I'm a bit confused over that whole Sadie Hawkins thing. I mean, you couldn't have been that young right? I'm just thinkin' back to my skirt chasin' days and I'm fairly certain I'd have picked a girl over a few shotgun shells....I dunno, maybe it's just me.
