Greetings. My family came from Sud Tyrol in 1895. It is now part of Italy after 1915. Fiave is the town just north of Lago di Garda. Gary

I don't think its extremely old.

The knives I have from the mid 1800's civil war era have a longer tang that on virtually all are as long as the handle and as thick as the blade. The end of the tang was at the end of the handle.

I agree with Charlie P. It looks like a kitchen knife, not an expert though.

I’m going with a more modern kitchen knife judging by the shape of the tang.

I don't think it's a knife anything, or any kind of knife. Were it a knife there would be holes in what some are calling the tang. No holes in tang to mount handles means not a knife. Simple as that. What is being called a tang here is also way short for a knife tang in comparison to what some think is the knife blade.
