Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
Been carefully trying to clean the date & it looks to be 1866. My 2nd Shield nickel I’ve found in my 4 years of detecting.
What would this item be with W&L 47?
No markings on the spoon. I broke it trying to unbend it..
Found at homesite that was present in my 1864 plat book. Michigan.

Nice finds. The w&l item could be a baggage tag (railroad, stage, boat, etc)

Which railroads operated near your site?
Thanks for the suggestion that this one item labeled W&L 47 could be a baggage tag.
There was a stage coach stop fairly close to this site. Have no info currently on the stage company.(Update: Good Intent Line, was in the area).
I searched all my plat books for my area but couldn’t find any railroad labeled W&L.
I have a photo of the railroad list that I found.
There was a whistle stop approximately 3 miles away from where I found this tag. I also found a old railroad lock at this site. (GHRR)
Did a google search and Wheeling & Lake Erie RR popped up.
