Shell found at Ypres Salient Sint Elooi

My neighbours demolished their house in Sint Elooi (side of the most powerfull single explosion of World war 1). They apparently unearthed this. I'm used to seeing the usual shells laying about, being born in Ypres, but this one I didn't see before. It looks like a big shell still in it's protective package. Can you guys check what this is? Strange thing, the "point" is missing. 20180430_183408.jpg
 

From what I can see in that pic im going to guess its a rifle grenade

If that black thing is one of those massive construction fence foot plates then that is a pretty good size shell. If you remove the casing to expose the shell then post the pics for us yeah, just be careful.

I could be wrong, and I hope I am... without knowing the size it's hard to say for sure but that almost looks like a chunk of a British livens projector with the gas shell still in it....
