Shark Locked on to Teen's Abdomen

Teen emerges from ocean with shark locked onto abdomen

An Oakland Park teen who went swimming at the beach Thursday emerged with a nurse shark latched onto his abdomen.


The Broward Sheriff's Office said Chapman was in about three feet of water at Anglin's Fishing Pier in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea when the shark went after him just before 5 p.m. Thursday.

From what I got from the TODAY show, the kid jumped in to untangle the nurse shark from fishing line or a net. It turned on him and clamped on to his left ribcage. Lucky for him the nurse shark has teeth the size of toothbrush bristles, or so they say. The bite didn't look all that bad. I'm sure he'll do alot worse falling off a skateboard.
