Another piece from yesterday’s hunt during low tide. What I first thought was a toe-tap from far. Says “pilot” on the bottom and scale goes from 30-70. Doesn’t look broken but could be missing some pieces. On the Facebook group ID Me one guy mentioned the sextant. I looked it up and it could be the arc or scale part of it. Any info/help would be awesome. If it is from a sextant, what a very cool find.

Thanks and happy hunting.

Not likely to be part of a sextant, the arc is too small and of low quality, it is more likely part of a protractor
regardless it is a cool find

It looks like a boom angle indicator off of a crane or boom truck. the white one even starts at 30 like the dug item.istockphoto-1161259342-170667a.jpgimages (3).jpg

It says "PILOT" on it. Pilot made drawing instruments.

Maybe an declination indicator for a satellite dish. (?)
It's about the right adjustment range: 30-deg to 70-deg.
