small debate among us whether this is from a clock or a fishing reel. i first thought clock but then i realized i'd found several parts of a hendryx fishing reel within 20 feet of where i found this and now I'm thinking reel others still say clock. what do you think internet?

For myself I'd vote for a clock gear. Looks kind of light-weight to me for a fishing reel as the teeth aren't cut very deep at all.

Creskol,
I was thinking along the same lines as you....

It's a REAL clock gear.

I have found several of these myself along with lots of watch and clock parts

I WAS gonna say Reel drive gear until I realized I couldnt find any within Hendryx that had 5 spokes.. It may be a reel gear but im thinking maybe from another manufacture possibly.. I attached the insides of a Hendryx repair manual photo...HendryxClutch.webp

Not a casting reel.

Kinda looks like it might be part of a mid-sized spinning reel though.

All the inattentive fisherman's rods that get ripped off the dock end up on same beach. You might be looking at parts from more than one reel. :dontknow:

I just found a whole clock about a month ago and poster it on here. The gear looks identical and it was from a 1920’s ship. The clock name was identified as a Chelsea.

Here is the 1920's Chelsea ship clock that I found on a beach. Gears look similar I think.IMG_0837.webpIMG_0836.webp

Clock...most likely. Did you find it by the river?
