Phil, it is inspirational to see how you have conquered life's challenges. Please keep us posted on your progress when you get the new machine.

Let me know too. If it works well for your will get a second machine and this so I can take my friends out too.

I sure will let everyone know how it works out as maybe I can find the right machine and the right set up to help others that have hearing disabilities. That a great thing that you are doing working with the deaf and hard of hearing people. Where are you at? This interest me a great deal what you are doing.

Did you talk to anyone on the Whites forum? If you know what db (or tones) you can hear, im sure the Whites folks can tell you what to set the VDI tones to so you can hear them. I have mine set to several different tones, so I dont ahve to keep looking at the screen. The V3I also has other screens you can set up that might be of help to you that can sort of let you see whats under the ground. Lots of good experts one the Whites Forum.

Haven't talked to whites but I can hear tones from 500 to 3500 hz at or above 80 db in my left ear. Tones in the range of 3500 to 8000 at any db level I have no hearing. Normal speech fall into the 20 to 70 db level between 500 and 8000 hz. So I have very limited hearing in low tones only. Totally deaf to medium to high tones.

I took my friend out with the whites 5900 and he said he could feel the tones. I was a bit surprised but he sure picked up on the hits.

I believe that. I noticed on my ACE 350 that I could slightly feel it when it made a good strong hit. This is something that I need to pay attention to as I may be able to work on picking up on the feeling.

I can definitely say from experience with my at pro now to the v3i well least to me seems as though more I use the detector the more u get a feel without looking at the screen but in the case of v3i u just wanna look at the screen the real time analysis is beyond any detector I have used to me really let's u see what's in the ground great machine

The analysis graph while pinpointing on the V3i is pretty handy even with no sound.

I switched alot of mine over to the polor plot u can really c what is in the ground good or bad

I have tried the polar plot, but I seem to get more information from the sizing analysis. Using the three frequency search mode.

True i use polor cause it does use the 3 freq but when u hit a good target u get ur signals nice & clean & when its junk there all over the place ya know

Yes but I was curious if a deep target would not give a good reading on the plot.?

Ive gotten coins & used polor plot & got my nice lines @8 almost 9" I have also pinpointed a junk taget at 12" a moist ground polor ploted & it did again show the lines a mess so I dug it anyway sure enough crushed soda can thats y well for me i stick with polor if lines r smooth good target if a mess junk & like I said my deepest target using polor was 12" moist ground using the 10dd stock coil

That's good to know, I have been thinking about trying the polar out a few more times. Since I am mainly looking for coins and rings I often go by size and polar plot doesn't really help on that.

I agree on the sizing what ur saying I just started using polor cuz sizing somtimes I found like nails & so fourth was off a little then started using polor & if I go by sounds vdi then top it off with polor if I get my good solid nice lines just another reasong to dig it, another thing I did was put polor on 1 program & sizing on another to compare the 2 thats really how it struck me to use polor most of the time & it really amazes me on how many choices we get when we kick that trigger forward

Yes indeed, nice to have options!
