Sen. Paul to Introduce Fourth Amendment Restoration Act of 2013
Jun 6, 2013
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Sen. Rand Paul today announced he will introduce the Fourth Amendment Restoration Act of 2013, which ensures the Constitutional protections of the Fourth Amendment are not violated by any government entity.

*"The revelation that the NSA has secretly seized the call records of millions of Americans, without probable cause, represents an outrageous abuse of power and a violation of the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution.*I have long argued that Congress must do more to restrict the Executive's expansive law enforcement powers to seize private records of law-abiding Americans that are held by a third-party," Sen. Paul said. "When the Senate rushed through a last-minute extension of the FISA Amendments Act late last year, I insisted on a vote on my amendment (SA 3436) to require stronger protections on business records and prohibiting the kind of data-mining this case has revealed.*Just last month, I introduced S.1037, the Fourth Amendment Preservation and Protection Act, which would provide exactly the kind of protections that, if enacted, could have prevented these abuses and stopped these increasingly frequent violations of every American's constitutional rights.

"The bill restores our Constitutional rights and declares that the Fourth Amendment shall not be construed to allow any agency of the United States government to search the phone records of Americans without a warrant based on probable cause."

LOL!!! This is why the far right will continue to marginalize themselves. This guy is looking for votes for himself. As a senator he knows darn well that there was nothing secret about the NSA's actions. His leaders signed off on it. He has been briefed over and over on it. He also knows no one's rights are being violated.

This is called pandering to your base.

And you think this guy has a shot to be president?

He needs to go back to being an eye doctor. Oh wait, can't do that because of the malpractice suits. Who could afford the insurance?

I get Rand's weekly e-mail update, pretty cool. I hope the senate has enough courage to pass it.

By now I would hope a whole lot of liberals realize that this isn't just about conservatives. It's about liberals too, only the liberals on this forum do not seem to realize that.

The liberals on this forum seem to be the only ones in touch with the facts.

Randy has been briefed on the NSA data collection 4X a year for as long as he's been a senator. He knows it's not a secret. he knows the data was turned over via a court order from a federal judge. he knows that there is no spying. he knows the data is being collected as a matter of national security. he knows there isn't an abuse of power. But you guys keep going on believing the misinformation. He's counting on it!

Irony - that an eye doctor would try to blind his constituents. Actually, kinda funny!

Watch this video NF

This dude just never wants to get elected president...

Obama Big Brother.webp

ADS -who is they? The vid references that "they" are taking control.

OK, that crosses the Tinfoil hat line!

To me, that you guys actually believe this stuff is scary.

The vid shows some of the more disturbing elements of REAL ID. But they aren't here and hopefully never will be.

Back on point - that Paul uses adjectives designed to incite emotions in his press release shows that he is politicizing the moment.

Stuff like this pisses off the center. The center controls the country.

NF, do I actually believe this?

Well, let me add up the IRS, Benghazi, the election, the first election, Chicago politics, AP, Susan Rice, Hillary, Holder, Gun Control, Keystone, COAL - with a whole state unemployed, GM, The bail out, Feinstein's husband, Reid's family, Veteran's treatment, Obummercare, Sequestration, NSA, CIA, Drones, Egypt, Libya, Syria, abandonment of ISRAEL, Iran, Palestinian Statehood, China, North Korea, the whisper to the Russians - we'll be more flexible after the election, We won't listen to your phone conversations, Boston Bombers.....

Lord have mercy, just how much of this trash do I have to keep listing - IT GOES ON !!!

And it's all about your hero.

At least half of what you listed would be the exact same if a Republican was in office.

Crispin, I think you see the truth. It would be the same whoever was in office as applicable.

Personally, I'm not necessarily Republican. I am conservative. I DID NOT agree with Iraq, with the Patriot Act, or many of the inherited powers O came in with. What I disagree with is the extents to which O has evolved these powers. Politicians lie, they live off our paychecks, they do their dirty hidden deals - Republican or Democrat - and the divisions between them blend quickly into the day to day politics.

Me, personally, I want a government who cares about you and me, and not about the DC housing boom and delicious gifts they all receive off the backs of us, those of us - BOTH you and I.

Crispin, it DOES NOT MATTER who is doing it, it is violating our constitutional rights and bill of rights, not just yours and mine but your son's and your future grand kids too.... It has to stop now!

Do you condone a sponse cheating on you becasue they have done it in the past or do you put a stop to it? Do you allow a child to do something because they tell you their brother did it first?

That is what is so frustrating for us, it does not matter what party they represent it is wrong. I am a patriot, not a loyalist, I believe in the Constitution Of The United States and In the Bill of Rights, my oath and loyalty belong to those, not to any party or president. My oath when I went into the service was to the Constitution, it was not to President Johnson who was president at the time. When I pledge allegiance it is to U.S. of A, the flag and to the republic, it is not to a president or a party....... I am not a Republican I am a Libertarian.

I supported Nixon till it became obvious he was abusing power while in office then I was one of his biggest critics. He should not have been pardoned, no president should ever be pardoned if he commits crimes while in office..... I was and still am Against the (un) Patriot Act, I have been since it was being debated....... You do not surrender rights and freedoms in the name of false security, if you do then the te terrorist or who ever have won and they never have to fire another shot............

Amen brother! I couldn't agree more with you. However, that is an impossibility. We are imbedded in a time of corruption. Things are self-serving from the top down, the down up, and everywhere in between.

TH: I know you are a patriot. That is why I regard you highly. It is also why I am lucky to consider you to be a friend. You are also passionate...a trait many have saddled me with in the past. Don't confuse me with stockpicker. I'm not looking for an argument. If your way leads to fixing the system I'm all for it. Right now, I'm voting Republican next election if the candidate is level-minded. My problem is with the extremes, and the bashing, and the hatred...ie...Red's agenda.

See you at the Gulf tomorrow! ;)

Crispin, what in the heck can we do, as Rodney King said "why can't we all just get along?". Many, many of us here though we argue - liberal or conservative - we really want a system which works. I have feelings for those who need me, but not those who use me. I have deep faith in the Lord though many would mock me - but that's their thing, not mine. What we need is more than what we receive from the ruling elite. We ALL know that here. Votes do not seem to count and haven't for years.

I have zero desire to see descent into insurrection, and that may very well be spinning uncontrollably. I do fear for the future for really the very first time in my life. I'm older, won't matter to me, my job is to die if necessary to protect those for whom I care.

Votes no longer mean anything, thus we are left with frustration we cannot absolve.

So, what can we do when we can no longer support anything we see within our government - graft and harvest?

I am confident if you ask any terrorist and sworn enemy of the US whether his aim is the death of an American citizen or whether an American citizen has to give up a "right" to thwart his agenda, he would laugh at the idiocy of the very question.

You left out bigfoot!

Let's take one of these - let's talk about the bailout. TARP was passed into law before obama took office so why are you pinning it on him? Besides the fact that TARP saved our butts OBAMA's influence was as a senator, not as prez. Yet, you have an issue? The lead up to TARP had nothing to do with Obama. The Bush admin's fingerprints are all over it, not Obama's. So what's the deal? How is that about my hero?
