After digging three large cents yesterday I just had to get back there today to see what I get come up with. They were tough signals for some reason, maybe my Fisher didn't like the cold frosty start to the day but I still managed one wheaty looks like 1910 or 1918 and some Indian Head cents, crudded up though. I dug one and then couldn't find my target! It was stuck in the dirt on my shovel :BangHead: it was a semi key date1872 Indian!
Got one 1860 fatty, 1898 and one really corroded.

Earlier at a differant site dug my first Liberty Cap Cent, here's the thread to that:

Here's the injun's and wheatie plus four more really old flat buttons.... Thanks for looking!

Excellent finds for any field!

I gotta ask though, with all these finds, how much trash did you have to go thru to get them?

HH!

I've been in and out of these fields for my third season now. There's iron for sure but I don't typically dig iron signals, I concentrate on the mid and high tones and I don't descriminate pull tabes. These fields are really old and the homes have been gone for 100yrs so the usual "trash" is iron and some tin. Today's field is a old site but was lived on longer the wheatie is a sign of that. last years wheats from this site where newer than today's.

Key Note: You just have to dug those iffy signals as they are not always trash. Yesterday two of the large cents were reading in my iron category but were strong enough for me to check it out ! WHAM! Two LC's was the payoff for it

The trash: I'm a member of the Genesee Valley Treasure Seekers ~ we've decided this year to start bringing in our "garbage" metal and sort it and cash it in for scrap value. The club has gained significally from this alone and there's nothing wrong with cleaning up a park or field of scrap and cashing in on it, after all it is free! :icon_thumright:

. . . keep digging!!
