Now me, I would have tried to catch up with the person and return it, but again, this could be a set-up...You return the money and they claim they had $10.50 in change...You never know.

buy a free "lotto" ticket -- might have left millions -- who knows?

just to clear things up before they go on a moral tangent. i did not see who the person was who used the self checkout before me. i only noticed the change while i was swiping my debit card and entering in my pin, after scanning my groceries. so to that i say finders keepers.

3 weeks ago I went to Pinch a Penny pool and spa to get the pool water tested.
when I got there a HUGH white GMC was parked next to me on my left, at a rather crooked angle..

When I came out of the store the truck was gone, and in the middle of the parking space was a folded 10 =)
I picked it up and saw a paper clip, I thumbed it, another 10, and a 20... and then a 50 and then ANOTHER 50 o_O
the parking lot was empty... and there was no wind to blow money around.. so for that huge truck to drop it UNDER his truck in the very middle was unlikely... too many store to go ask if anyone had reported it (chain of malls) So I kept it xD and it's what I partially used to buy my ACE250 with o_O

Personally, I don't like self-checkouts. If that were to happen to me more often, then I'd probably use them since they'd be paying me to checkout. Although, I think that if they are becoming the trend, then the prices of everything at the store should be dropped since I see some of the profit from the prices as going to pay for the employees as well.

I figure, if I have to pay what I pay for the goods that I buy, then someone else should be doing the job of checking me out. But, I'm always seem a bit grumpier when I'm ready to check out after having to deal with a lot of the people in the stores anyway, so maybe I'm just moody in crowds or something :)

And you look like such a nice Amish boy..... :D

Amish boy, eh? Thanks, I guess :)

Actually it is an Amish hat that I got from an old Amish guy in Indiana (where I'm originally from), but I had to cut the outside down a bit so it's not so wide. They're some of the nicest people that I've ever known, and I've worked for quite a few of them in the past in their hay fields when I lived up there in corn country. And they have this amazing way of blowing their nose straight into the air without using any sort of handkerchief. Yuck! Just be sure not to stand in front of them in the wintertime when their noses get runny :)

I think the self check outs are a great idea. I don't have to wait for the little old ladies with the fistful of coupons or deal with the attitude of the high school kid (and the occasional adult) that can't count out 37 cents in change.

I refuse to use them either for two reasons: 1). If I have to do someone else's job by scanning and bagging my groceries, I should get a discount on my grocery bill and 2). It puts someone out of a job. But, I do check the coin cups and the bill slots. I have found many coins on the floor from the self checkout lanes too.

Great find and it's yours!!!!!!!! Put it in the money jar for Christmas!

I love self-checkouts....and I dispise SHOPPING!!!...so I want in and out as quickly as possible. I especially dispise shopping from 1 Nov to 1 Jan.....So much for holiday cheer...you meet the nastiest, most rudest folks at this time in the malls, stores, grocery stores...etc...fighting over a stupid toy....geesh....anyways...I try my best to stand clear so my holiday festivities don't get dampered on!!!....And I am just about done shopping for Christmas...whew!!! So, I love self-checkout! And my boys, when they are with me...always check every slot that can be found from bubble gum machines...to checkouts!!! :)

PS: And I work for a grocery store...already...the crowds and the nit-picking customers who complain about a difference of a penny....and trying to ALWAYS get everything FREE!!!!! I don't make the prices, I just manage the front end of the store!!! Geesh! This should be another thread about HOLIDAY CRANKINESS!!! :)

Check outs are good. But I agree with the guy who said he/she would try to look for whoever was last at the check out. I would appreciate it if someone did that for me. But if the person isn't there/you can't find them, then the money is yours free and clear. Do to others as you would have them do to you, is still a good model.
