Alot of soul there.
My pleasure.

Hiya GatorBoy, I live in Micanopy and work in Gainesville with family in Palm Coast. Just dusting off my MD gear and getting ready to sweep my yard. Ocalasix and I have linked up, hopefully I'll get to meet you too

I'd love too!
Man you live on prime ground.

I know I do. I've been researching it for the past month or so. But I've not really had much time to look yet. My yard needs a lot of brush cutting.

If you have any kind of creek or water on your property I would check those areas real well.. anywhere mother nature has disturbed the ground..keep an eye out for Native American artifacts too. Stone tools and projectile points are all over your area as well.

I'll keep my eyes peeled. No water on my land. I only have a few acres.

I have one here I've not seen before.
Its badly worn but I think I see a number 2 over another number..Mabey 3?
Second Dragoons?

Wow, I can't tell you anything about those buttons. I'm curious to know what you learn about them.

Pulled out another hard to decipher button.
The numbers seem to re occur.

Nice finds!

I found an item last night that I thought was a roofing nail. It's got a strong metal post and a large round mostly flat head. Seeing these pictures makes me want to take a second look at it, which I will after work.

Do any of the old military insignias and accouterments have a single straight post? I'll see if I can't clean it up a little and post a picture tonight.

Looking forward to your post

Me too. I cranked up my White's Classic SL1's sensitivity to max and the discrimination to minimum and found this near a weird tree stump about 10 inches down. We had to call it a night when the darkness and Mosquitoes set in on us. I was so sure it was just a roofing nail until re-reading the posts here, which got me thinking.

So I'll wash off that old roofing nail and see if it is in fact that, or something more interesting. Two hours til quitting time.
