All right! It took a while but I am now up to 20 seated half dollar finds. That's a lot of walking in the woods and a lot of itching from the poison oak that seems to grow all around the seated coins around here. I've found 11 other seated coins (half dimes, dimes and quarters) in my detecting "career". Each one was a blast to find! Seems like a lot but I've been detecting for 35 years. :laughing7:

Included pictures of some of the other finds including the front portion of a cute little powder flask and a suspender buckle of some sort with a date of April 20 1875. I like old shotgun shells so I included a pic of that as well since it was all found the same day.

Thanks for looking!

winslow is being modest when he says "walking" in the woods, kind of left out the climbing up & down steep hills full of trees and brush, piles of rocks, overgrown creek beds etc., the man is a beast, makes one look forward to a few days of pleasant park hunting. It is a great adventure though, and so many of his finds speak for themselves.

Very nice big silver! We only dream of those out here.

Did I catch you correctly when you said you've found 20 seated half dollars and 11 of all other seated-variety coins? Wow.

WOW I feel blessed i found one...in 40 years.......::headbang:

Congrats on the neat finds...the powder flask wasn't very big...I'd shot that up in one afternoon! HEHEHE

A beautiful seated half you have found there and it being your 20th is simply amazing. I have been hunting for over 45 years ,and I was lucky enough to recover two seated half dollars in that time, but seated half and seated dimes were much more numerous in the old parks in Ohio,Kentucky and Indiana of which I pounded them all.

Son of a...you're killing me! What a beautiful coin. I'm still a'lookin'

That's a beautiful coin, big congrats. I have not found a seated coin yet, so that just amazes me, as does your career totals.

The buckle is cool too.

Best of luck to you sir!

Beautiful half dollar with excellent detail! :occasion14:

Beautiful coin, I think that's the only year the seated's had both arrows and rays

TWENTY SEATED HALVES?!?!?!? That's amazing!!
I bought my first metal detector in 1985, and I have only found TWO seated dimes.....I try to make up for that with Spanish Silver and Draped Bust Dimes :laughing7:

Nice finds....:icon_thumleft:

20 seated halves is an amazing figure! I don't have 20 silver halves dug. (period!)
A seated half sits pretty darn high on my want list, for sure. Grats!

Love the in-situ photo. Great to see west coasters getting choice old silver . Love the powder flask.

what a beautiful coin and very hard earned for sure. no seated here, yet anyways. congrats

You guys out west find seated halves and gold coins like we find large coppers back east. Ridiculous. Ive found a bunch of seated(mostly on one site) but those folks werent high rollers dropping halves
