Went to a new field today. Its was harvested barley & the stubble was soft & so was the ground from the heavy rain last night.
I knew this was going to be good field when the second dig was a roman coin (had 4 in total). It was a very exciting field & I felt I would dig a roman silver or hammered any minute but never did
1620s Royal Farthing - Charles I
17th century pewter nipple civil war era button.
Far left, first photo a medieval strap-end & next to it a Georgian Pipe Tamper.
2 star finds:
14-15th century heraldic horse leather stud with a chevon design. This is the type the knights used on their horses. RARE find.
A bronze zoomorphic terminal from a bracelet. I think its a swans or snake head & Roman but could be Saxon/Medieval.
And bits.....
Things will get better, not sure my back will!
