They are excavating a previously unknown shaft from surface level very close to the Garden Shaft. All indications are that the construction technique is very old and it was undisturbed by the Dunfield Big Dig. Also they found a cut coin on lot 5.

Just for fun, I watched the episode and counted how many times they said "The Money Pit". I totaled up 53 times! I may have even dozed off once or twice and missed a couple. That's about once every two minutes during the program!
As for that "cut silver", I'm very skeptical of that one. Looked really slick and maybe just part of a broken flat button. But after they play around with it with their expensive machines, letters magically show up on the face to ID it as a 1600's coin! Sorry, not buying it.
