The farmers started harvesting here. I detected this field about 6 hours over the weekend, wasn’t expecting much as I have detected it so many times but I was really surprised. I believe there was a farmhouse at the top of the field until the 1600s so these fields have been used for a very long time.

The finds. Two lead musket balls and a lead seal with “XXX” on it. I wonder what the seal sealed, LOL?

Buttons, two are from the 1700s, a rivet possibly from a harness and a little whatsit.

Old hinge, small buckle from the 1600s and a heart pin with pin intact.

Obverse of two silver coins dating 1828 and 1866 and a brass aluminum coin from 1924.

Reverse of the coins.

A nice little seal matrix dating around the 1700s. Initials I.R., looks like a bakers paddle for pulling bread out of an oven and two wooden pieces used to beat wheat, not sure what they are called.

Seal matrix stem, has a small notch in the stem to identify the top of the seal.

Seal stamp. I really enjoy finding these seal matrixes. I’ll put it into my museum display soon. HH, Mike

Mike,
Great finds as usual. That I.R. seal matrix is very cool. You'de have a tough time covering every inch of that huge field. :o
